"Each of Maruen's works must be observed multiple times: the gaze becomes inquisitive and embarks on a journey that concludes with the realization that nothing resembles what one initially believes to discover at first glance. Such is the observation of the world, as it is with art."

— Dr.Christian Frommert, journalist and art historian.

Remaining in a constant state of reflection on creation has long been accompanied by the words of writers:

'Discovering that what you pursue recedes further the more you progress, and yet having to continue wandering—an inevitable bitterness, but if you yield to it, you no longer belong to the path.'"

 — Charles Juliet (1934-2024), writer

Maruen, a member of the Maison des Artistes, Art Contemporain en Bretagne, and Minoterie 21, among others, is often asked about her use of materials and how this perspective defines her artistic identity—whether she considers herself a painter, drawer, sculptor, photographer, etc. She clarifies this by stating:

"As a visual artist, I feel close to what I touch, what I taste, what I tame, whether it's with a chainsaw, a scraper, a roller, or a tube of paint. It is the thought, or the intention, that guides the extraction. Philosophical, anthroposophical, literary, or historical readings nourish my artistic journey alongside a practice of drawing as training."
